15+ years of language teaching and 8+ years of online learning development

Work Experience

In 2009, I founded a boutique English Education Service (“Workshop English Consulting”) with the goal of making English learning more relevant to everyday life. I taught small-group classes in this physical studio and provided private tutoring services.

To this day, I still deliver in-person group training to major organizations, such as corporations and government agencies.

Notable Clients

Digital Transformation

I created my first online platform in 2015.

As a pioneering online educator in Taiwan, I began moving my services online and experimenting with various pedagogical tools just a few years after founding my physical studio. By 2012, most of my classes were taught exclusively online.

In 2015, I officially took everything online with the creation of my first platform, which is now in its third iteration and by no means the last one. My ambitious project is still evolving.

English Ever After (EEA)

In its 3.0 version, EEA is my passion project.

What began as a simple English learning membership community is now a versatile course platform with a large catalog of content, featuring both synchronous and asynchronous learning in the form of weekly live streams, vibrant forum conversations, and even a grassroots speaking club!

Community building in relation to learning is an area where I see much promise, especially in the context of digital learning!

A Glimpse of My Work

Every week, I host a bilingual livestream for my community. “Anything” is a bilingual session that is about literally anything under the sun. I spend the first half covering a chosen topic in Mandarin Chinese, then the next half discussing the same material in English.

In 2024, I plan to do more public live streams on Youtube.

As I advance in my career, it is my goal to give more back to society and work towards social equity in English education.

Research Experience

In order to develop my skills as a researcher and learn about the psychology of emotions, I have been volunteering as a remote research collaborator to work on projects related to how the body expresses emotions since October 2022.

I have been very fortunate to work on developing an emotion database with the aim of reducing culture-related exposure bias in AI training.

Custom AI Model
Automated Video Trimming

The motion-capture clips collected by my research team always begin and end with T-poses that must be trimmed. I trained an AI model and automated the video processing with Python integration.

Admin Automation
Automated Email Delivery

Using APIs, I set up an automated system in Google Sheets that efficiently delivers experiment links to subjects.

Custom AI Model
Labvanced

I helped my team set up online psychology experiments that display clips of movements for viewers to decode by selecting from a list of emotions.

Data Cleaning, Analysis & Visualization
Python Pipeline

I updated the team’s data processing code (originally written in R) with Python. The purpose was two-fold: 1) Python is more accessible and 2) this process provided opportunities to practice coding.
